Walks in and around Uig

There are many walks on the Trotternish Peninsula, some of which require transport to reach. The two walks most favoured by our guests have been the walk to the Fairy Glen, and the walk to the Quiraing.

The Fairy Glen Walk

This walk is about four miles long. The Fairy Glen is like a miniature highland landscape, which has formed naturally. There are a lot of small conical mounds that look like little mountains, and a small lochan with a huge rock over looking it, known locally as the fairy castle, or Castle Ewen.

The Quirang Walk

The Quiraing sits about six miles from Uig. This is the strangest of rock formations, which resulted from the landslips on the Trotternish ridge. The Trotternish ridge is itself the longest landslippage in the British Isles. This has left a number of unusual rock formations and giant basalt pillars. These have names like the Needle and the Table.

Other walks

These include the Storr Walk. The Storr is the large finger of rock that you can see on the skyline beyond Portree, known as the Old Man of Storr.

Another popular walk is the old coastguard lookout post at the extreme North Tip of Skye, Rubba Hunish.

We can provide details of numerous other glorious local walks should you require them.
